The WHA team united for the first time in Yangon, Myanmar today. After 23 hours of transit members coming from USA, Canada, and Vietnam welcomed one another to "The Golden Land."

The team started bright and early at 7 am to load the bus with 40 boxes of medication, supplies, and equipment. We started our 15 hour bus very windy up north to the mountain ride to Taunggyi, Shan State which played they latest Burmese pop songs as well as the greatest hits of Lady Gaga music videos to help pass the time ... sort of. This gave everyone time to bond introduce each other as well as a few old friends from previous WHA missions to reconnect.

We took rest breaks at local markets where the vendors were excited to see new visitors. The bus stopped half way along the trip at Nay Pyi Taw to meet the madame of Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association (MMCWA) who graciously welcomed our team with tea and also to pick up additional 7 members - doctors, pharmacists and support staff to join our team on the bus. The bumpy trip didn't come without incident. A handful of our members had severe motion sickness which had a chain reaction to nearby members sitting next to them.

Upon arrival the exhausted team was in high moral and determined to continue preparing for the first day of treating patients.
