Medical and Dental Mission to Vietnam 2010
The medical, dental and educational mission will travel to Phan Thiết and Can Tho
from October 30 – November 14, 2010.
- This will be the largest international team to be sent by the WHA program with medical personnel from Canada, US and Vietnam.
- We will participate in medical teaching program and perform medical and dental relief missions for orphanage and the people of Phan Thiết and Can Tho.
- We will be sending home daily mission blogs with pictures beginning on November 3rd.
Destination
Phan Thiết town is the capital of Bình Thuận Province, in southeastern Vietnam.
Phan Thiet is a municipality in central, south central sector, however, the development plan to 2025, it would be municipality Southeast Vietnam.
Phan Thiết is subdivided into 18 wards and communes, of which 14 are urban wards, namely: Đức Thắng, Đức Nghĩa, Đức Long, Phú Hài, Phú Thủy, Phú Trinh, Phú Tài, Thanh Hải, Hàm Tiến, Mũi Né, Xuân An, Bình Hưng, Hưng Long, Lạc Đạo and 4 suburban communes, namely: Tiến Lợi, Tiến Thành, Thiện Nghiệp and Phong Nẫm.
Located on an arm of the South China Sea, Phan Thiết is one of Vietnam's most important fishing areas. Its population is roughly 205,333 (as of 2004).
Local people in Phan Thiết regularly practice a ceremony to a whale god, which is believed to give good luck in nautical pursuits.

Your support will enable a team of volunteer doctors, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists to provide much needed care
for long-neglected populations in Vietnam. A $40 donation will provide 1 week of antibiotics for 4 patients, a $100 donation will supply vital prenatal vitamins to pregnant women in a village for a month, a $250 donation will help the team bring dental treatment to 25 children, and a $500 or more donation will go towards much needed medical equipment.
