The 25 member team with 5 physicians, 1 PA, 6 dentists, 3 pharmacists, 3 nurses, 2 dental assistants and support staff was one of the largest team sent by the WHA program. This international team was comprised of medical and dental personnel from Canada, United States and our host country Vietnam. This year our medical teaching team consisted of specialists in gastroenterology and cardiothoracic surgery. |

| Most of the team members have returned back safely from Vietnam this past week. The U.S. Customs welcomed us home and allowed us to bring back our equipment and supplies. This definitely was a memorable mission, filled with unexpected events, numerous days of frustration, much laughter and tears. Despite the many twists and turns, we were able to treat more than 1,200 patients, establish new friendships and diplomatic connections, and achieve tentative long term working agreement. We accomplished much on this mission, far exceeding our expectations.

"The past few days were a whirlwind of emotions. During these days, the nursing staff was responsible for processing each and every patient... We mantained the frontline"
The team treated over 1,200 patients in 4 villages and one bhuddist temple located high in the mountains. We were the first large foreign medical team that had visited these villages. The people and local health providers were amazed with our thorough examinations. These villages were very economically depressed and really needed our help.

"Our final clnic day we saw the worst of the wounds. A young girl came in for dental care and forgot to mention the two large lacerations on her scalp from falling the day before. A young man was brought to the clinic with facial cuts and dental injuries after being involved in a motorbike accident. It took both the medical and dental team to patch them up. This was true team work." - Jennifer, PA
The dental team was equipped with 4 portable dental units and one dental van. It had its own power generator and provided oral extraction and light restorative dental procedures. This was one of our most well equipped dental mission to date

Our teaching team visited and gave lectures at the Can Tho School of Health Sciences. Our Can Tho team is very grateful for the warm reception given by school faculty and students and looks forward to working more closely with the School of Health Sciences in the near future. |
